Old City of Jerusalem Documentary

This is an original recording of the Israel Defense Forces entering the Old City of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and the Wailing Wall (Western Wall) during the Six Day War.

June 7, 1967. After nearly 2000 years, Jerusalem is in Jewish hands again.

The Temple Mount is in our hands, the Temple Mount is in our hands.

All Forces stop firing!

The time is 10:20 in the morning, the 7th of June.

At this moment we are passing through the Lion's Gate.

I am now under the shadow of the gate. once again, we are going out to the sunny street, the Lion's Gate.

We are in the Old City. We are in the Old City.

The soldiers are standing very close to the walls. We are marching now on the Via Dolorosa.

Do you understand this?...the Old City, we are within the Old City again.

The Al Aksa Mosque. Under the ruling mandate we could not enter here.

One moment. Straight ahead is the Kotel, the Wailing Wall.

Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!

It is hard to express in words our feelings.

On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen. (chant)
